Dr Richard Evans led on a breakout session focused on innovation adoption, while Dr Moninder Bhogal (Business Development and Innovation Manager) and Dil Rathore (Pathology Innovation & Technology Lead) co-led a parallel session with colleagues from the University of Leeds, around their commercialisation journey within the NHS
Richard Evans led a ‘world café’ session on NHS Innovation Adoption that brought together key stakeholders from the NHS and industry. Alongside the Innovation Pop Up were featured Fiona McKenzie, Policy Lead at NHS InSites and our member Medishout who provided a company’s perspective on implementing digital innovation to reduce surgery cancellations.

Moninder Bhogal’s session on the commercialisation journey was introduced to the delegates and our colleague Dil Rathore presented his pioneering work on tracking of pathology samples with radio frequency identification tracking (RFID).

The sessions were a fantastic opportunity to share valuable knowledge and experiences both on integrating innovations and the best practices for navigating pitfalls in commercialisation. Discussions also highlighted the importance of innovation “passporting”, facilitating the transfer of governance documentation across NHS organisations.
We truly enjoyed engaging with our members and attendees on these vital topics and are already looking forward to next year’s SurgTech event in 2026.
