Leeds Digital Festival Innovation Club: Developing technologies for improved care

This online webinar, hosted by the Innovation Pop Up, brought together 110 attendees, including healthcare professionals, researchers, partners from across the Leeds region, and members of the public. The Innovation Club showcased groundbreaking work happening at LTHT, with presentations from teams involved in remote monitoring, virtual wards, and 3D planning services. Collaborators from the NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Centre and the NIHR Leeds Clinical Research Facility also contributed.

Accelerating digital innovations across the NHS

The second event, Accelerating Digital Innovations Across the NHS, was held in person at the Research and Innovation Centre at St. James’s University Hospital. With over 60 attendees, the event explored the role of digital innovation within the NHS, focusing on new technologies from the National Clinical Entrepreneur Programme and the NHS InSites programme, which aims to streamline the adoption of new technologies across the healthcare system.
Notable presentations included:
- Victoria Critchley, Development Director, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, who outlined the vision for a new innovation village in Leeds.
- Fiona McKenzie, Policy Lead & Deputy Portfolio Director, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, who discussed the progress and future of the NHS InSites Programme.
- David Holland, Deputy Chief Clinical Information Officer, and Vince Barlow, Clinical Digital Nurse, who highlighted the growth of digital advocates at the Trust.
In addition, several clinical entrepreneurs delivered inspiring pitches on innovative healthcare solutions, including:

These entrepreneurs showcased digital innovations designed to improve care delivery and patient outcomes, offering a glimpse into the future of healthcare technology.
The event also featured case studies of innovation adoption in Leeds, presented by:

- Andreas Landsverk, Director of Partnerships, Ledidi
It was a great atmosphere, with excellent feedback from attendees who were inspired by the passion and potential of these digital innovations.
Both events as part of Leeds Digital Festival 2024 provided a dynamic platform for showcasing the cutting-edge digital innovations transforming patient care at LTHT and beyond.
