The session focussed on exploring how AI-generated images can enhance accessibility in healthcare materials and developing innovative approaches to streamline the creation of ‘Easy Read’ visuals, promoting inclusivity and improving patient outcomes.
Easy Read is user-friendly information, accessible for people who may have learning disabilities or not be native English speakers.
The participants worked in groups throughout the day-long session coding with the aim of developing solutions to create three AI-generated images. The images’ goal was to be suitable for an accessible and easily understandable healthcare leaflet.

The teams worked on their prompt tool to create the three images that conveyed a common image, a medical procedure and emotion. At the end of the day a winning team was picked by a member of the learning disabilities and autism team.
This was a great workshop, working with a diverse group of our Pop Up members, including 6B Digital, developers, students and healthcare staff on solutions to enable better access for patients to medical information.
Many thanks to Leeds Digital Health, Dom Baker of MATT3R + METHOD, the clinical digital team and the learning disabilities and autism team for helping to organise this great session.
