Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed two new Board members to help shape the future of one of the country’s largest and busiest acute Trusts. Former Emergency Medicine Consultant Dr Simon Le Clerc will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director, alongside Leeds-based finance leader Ricky Singh as Associate Non-Executive Director. Their appointments form part of wider changes to the Trust’s senior leadership team as Leeds Teaching Hospitals seeks to strengthen its Board in response to recent challenges affecting the Trust and the wider NHS.
Joining as a Non-Executive Director, Dr Simon Le Clerc is a dual-accredited consultant in Emergency Medicine and pre-hospital Emergency Medicine, with over 25 years of leadership experience across the NHS, military and private healthcare. With strong regional ties to Yorkshire and the North East, Simon will increase the clinical representation on the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Board.
Ricky Singh will join the Trust as an Associate Non-Executive Director in early 2026, as part of the succession plan for Chair of the Audit Committee. He will take up this role once the current Chair’s term expires in 2027. Ricky has held a number of Chief Finance Officer roles in the commercial sector, with strengths in strategic financial leadership, governance expertise and transformation.
Antony Kildare, Chair of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome Simon and Ricky to our Board of Directors. They both truly excel in their fields and will bring extensive experience from different industries and sectors, augmenting our Board and adding new voices and perspectives not currently represented at Board level.
“In the last few months there have been significant changes to the senior leadership at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and we are navigating this period of transition alongside the challenges faced by the Trust and wider NHS. I am confident that the appointment of Simon and Ricky is another step in the right direction. They will be invaluable to supporting the Trust in providing strong governance and strategic direction as we continue our mission to improve our services and deliver the very best in patient-centred care for all in our community.”
