We’re proud to announce that we will be hosting two NHS Fellowships in Clinical Artificial Intelligence (AI), in an exciting new partnership with the NHS England Deanery that will help shape the future of digital healthcare.
This initiative marks a major step forward in advancing clinical innovation and digital transformation across the region. By applying cutting-edge AI technology in cancer and imaging services, we aim to improve diagnostic precision, personalise treatment and enhance efficiency for patients and clinicians alike.
The NHS Fellowship in Clinical AI is a prestigious 12-month national programme that equips healthcare leaders with the skills to safely and effectively adopt AI within clinical practice. Fellows will work part-time on real-world AI projects while continuing their NHS roles, ensuring that what they learn directly benefits patients.
At Leeds Cancer Centre, our two new Fellows will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, physicists, data scientists, and engineers to explore AI-driven improvements in oncology and radiology.
Dr Bashar Al-Qaisieh, Lead for Research & Innovation in Radiotherapy Imaging said: “Hosting the Clinical AI Fellows in Leeds will strengthen our ability to translate cutting-edge technology into direct benefits for patients.”
This collaboration is supported by the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery, North East and Yorkshire region, and North West region.
Applications for the programme are open now, with Fellows beginning in August 2026. For more information and to apply, visit https://www.nhsfellowship.ai/
