Like many others, we have been shocked by the news of a neonatal nurse found guilty of killing young babies in her care. These crimes are a terrible betrayal of the trust placed in her and our thoughts are with the families affected.
It is difficult to think about events like this, but it is incredibly important that we do. At Leeds Teaching Hospitals, we will always question what we can do better, to create an environment that’s as safe as possible for the people who use our services.
Speaking up is important. We ask everyone to continue to let us know of any concerns and please know that we are listening, and we will look into any concerns raised. This is the only way we can ensure we are keeping those in our care, and those who work for us, safe.
You can do this by speaking with a member of staff, or by contacting our Patient Advice and Liaison Service. We are committed to listening, responding and improving. Please click here for more information: PALS and Complaints (leedsth.nhs.uk).
We know there is always more we must do to improve our care and services. It is our responsibility, alongside the rest of the NHS, to ensure patients are always safe in our care.
I am proud to work at LTHT as I know our staff are committed to excellent patient care.
Please continue to let us know your concerns and if you are aware of issues that may need investigating. It is absolutely crucial that you do – we hear you and look at them all.
Thank you for your continued support.
