We are running an online workshop for parents and carers to help shape the development of our work to support parents if their child’s condition is getting
worse within Leeds Children’s Hospital.
Background
NHS England has promised that all patients in hospital will have access to a Critical Care Outreach team and make sure staff talk to parents or advocates on a daily basis about a child’s care and treatment.
You may have read about the young person Martha Mills, who sadly died in 2021 after developing sepsis in hospital. ‘Martha’s Rule’ was made legislation in 2023 and is being rolled out across all hospital trusts to support patients, families and carers in working together with staff if a patient’s condition is getting worse.
Workshop
At Leeds Children’s Hospital we want to work alongside parents and carers to understand your thoughts and feedback. We are holding an online workshop on 5 December,
6-7.15pm.
The aims of this online session are to work alongside parents so they can:
- Understand what Leeds Children’s Hospital is already doing about this issue.
- Share their thoughts about the information which will be given to parents.
- Help us ensure the new way of working will be easy to use.
We are asking parents of children and young people under the age of 18 to take part.
We also ask that:
- You feel comfortable sharing your ideas in a group
- You are comfortable talking about sensitive issues in a group
- You are able to take part in an online workshop
You do not have a recent or current complaint relating to this issue.
Take Part
