A team of 8 volunteers from Asda has eagerly taken on the task of rejuvenating the Take Heart garden at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).
Situated next to the cardiac wards, the garden offers patients, their families, and hospital staff a tranquil space with views of the city.
Anneka Fearnley, a Demand Planning Manager at Asda, has a personal connection to LGI, having been both an inpatient and an outpatient there. Deeply grateful for the care she received during her time on the cardiac wards, Anneka approached the Take Heart charity with a desire to give back.
Anneka said “We have two Give and Gain days a year where we can volunteer our time to support charitable events, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to dedicate a day to tidy up the garden. I know how much the space is appreciated by patients and staff.”
The Trust’s Gardening Team were grateful for the extra hands, and the efforts of these volunteers will certainly help enhance the patient space.
