This programme is focused on advancing the understanding of health conditions that disproportionately impact Black communities in the UK. The IBHO BioResource aims to address the critical gap in research dedicated to the health experiences of Black individuals, contributing to better prognosis and healthcare strategies tailored to their specific needs.
This initiative invites individuals from Black ethnic backgrounds, including Black African, Black Caribbean, and Black British, who are 16 years or older and have a UK address, to participate. Both those living with health conditions and those without are encouraged to join. The programme is also interested in individuals diagnosed with Sickle Cell or Thalassaemia, irrespective of their ethnic background.
Participation involves donating a blood or saliva sample and completing a health and lifestyle questionnaire. Participants will also fill out a consent form, which details how their data and samples will be used and allows researchers to match them to relevant studies. By contributing to this research, participants help shape future healthcare interventions designed to better meet the needs of Black communities.
If you are interested in participating or finding out more information you can reach out via email. Through this collaborative effort, the IBHO BioResource aims to significantly enhance our understanding and management of health conditions affecting Black communities in the UK.
