You have been sent to the breast clinic because either you or
your doctor has felt a lump or you have experienced unusual
discomfort in your breast.
The breast specialist has examined you and found everything to be
clinically normal. However, we have requested scans to ensure this.
The results of the scans are looked at in the clinic whilst you wait, so
that in most cases you will get a result before you leave the clinic.
If your scans are normal, the radiographer will tell you that you are
free to go. If the scans show anything that may not be normal, you
will be asked to stay and see the breast specialist again.
Even if your imaging is normal, but you would like to see the
breast specialist again then please let the nurse know. We aim to
make your wait in clinic as short as we can, but we hope that you
understand that we have to be safe and thorough so some waiting
may be involved.
