Aftercare Instructions
- Minimal compression will be used to hold the breast tissue and it is very unlikely to cause any damage to the implants.
- Please tell the radiographer of the type of implant used, if you have this information.
- Mammography may be less sensitive when there is an implant situated within the breast, as it can obscure a large proportion of breast tissue. Mammography therefore, is less likely to detect small changes in breast tissue.
- With your permission and if the implant is suitable we would like to undertake additional views to help visualise more of the breast tissue. The radiographer will discuss this with you at your mammography appointment.
- It is important to be aware of the normal appearances or your breasts and to report any changes to your General Practitioner.
