Aftercare Instructions
- Leave the dressing on your breast for 24 hours if there is no obvious bleeding.
- If your breast is tender you can take pain relief as you would for a headache i.e. two paracetamol. Do not take any medicine which contains aspirin.
- Do not undertake any vigorous exercise or heavy lifting for 24 hours following your biopsy.
- Some bruising may occur, but this will resolve within 1-2 weeks.
- If your biopsy site begins to bleed, apply a clean dressing over the existing dressing and apply firm pressure directly to the biopsy site.
- An appointment will be made for you to receive your results of the biopsy.
- If you develop any pain, shortness of breath or redness please contact us on the number provided overleaf.
- If the department is closed please contact Ward J23 through switchboard.
