You have recently contacted Dermatology with an area of concern on your skin, we are inviting you to attend a patient initiated clinical photography appointment for a more accurate assessment.
Your photography appointment
At the appointment, you will not see a doctor. You will see a clinical photographer who will take pictures of the area(s) of concern.
You will need to be able to clearly and accurately identify these area(s) or bring someone with you who can point them out to the photographer.
The photographer will only take photographs of the area(s) you contacted the dermatology team about and cannot take photographs of any new areas you identify on the day.
The area(s) will be marked up by the photographer, and they will take locator and close-up photographs with a camera. They will also use a dermatoscope camera which will come into contact with your skin. This may feel cold when it first touches your skin.
The photographs will be stored in your medical records and reviewed by one of the Dermatology team ‘virtually’, who will then contact you with the outcome.
How will I get my results?
The photographer will not be able to give you any results or feedback at or after your appointment. The photographs will be stored in your medical records, and a member of the Dermatology team will review them. They will then contact you with the outcome, and any follow-up needed.
