Today you have had a fine needle aspiration of your breast. This was done to remove fluid from a breast cyst or to take a small amount of tissue to send to the laboratory for analysis. This procedure will help the doctor diagnose your problem.
A dressing will be applied to the puncture site. This can be removed as soon as the wound has stopped bleeding. Do not worry if a bruise appears.
If you should develop shortness of breath please go immediately to the Accident and Emergency Department. Please take this leaflet with you.
