This is part of the information given to you by your midwife in your My Maternity Journey folder. Some of the leaflets in the pack have areas for you and your midwife to write in, we have not included these areas on the webpage, it just contains the information.
Maternity Services and Research
Research is a vital part of the care we provide at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. It helps us find better treatments, improve outcomes, and offer the best possible care.
Our Reproductive Health and Childbirth Research Team is passionate about giving you the chance to take part in research. By joining a study, you can help us learn more about pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care – and make a real difference for future families.
We’ve been involved in many studies over the years, and we’re proud to continue leading research that supports safer, more personalised maternity care.
Want to get involved or learn more?

PANDA
A new trial known as PANDA is set to investigate if routinely taking Iron supplements during pregnancy can prevent anaemia, reducing the risk of stillbirth, pre-term birth, post-natal depression, haemorrhage after delivery and the need for blood transfusions.

If you’re pregnant, you can join BaBi Leeds
You will be invited to join the BaBi Leeds study during routine maternity appointments. The study aims to join together routine data so that we can look at ways to improve health, care and services through research and planning in Leeds and beyond.
Lots of organisations regularly collect data about the services they provide – this is known as routine data. By linking data from you and your baby’s records, researchers can get a better understanding of what keeps us healthy and what needs to be done to improve care and services.
To find out more about BaBi Leeds, visit our website on the link provided below where you will find more information and the patient information leaflet in 10 different languages, plus a short video about the study.
You can also ask your midwife about joining BaBi Leeds or talk to a member of the Research Team.
on the contact details on the previous page, or email: [email protected]
Test your baby for 200+ genetic conditions
Join the study and contribute to research that could lead to new treatments.
Sign up when you’re pregnant, and the test will happen shortly after birth. Any suspected conditions can be treated in the NHS.
Taking part is free and optional (and you can always withdraw).
By taking part, you could find out early about a possible genetic condition in your baby. Joining the study could also help future generations of children with genetic conditions get a healthier start to life.
Visit the website for more information and to register your interest, or talk to our study team.
