Who is in the Skin Cancer MDT?
What will happen when I attend the Skin Cancer MDT Clinic?
When you arrive at the hospital please report to the main reception. Once you have been booked in please take a seat in the Blue Waiting Area in the Dermatology Outpatients Clinic. You will be met by a nurse in the waiting area who will take you to a clinic room where you will be reviewed by the MDT.
You will be seen by several doctors and the Skin CNS Team member at the same time. They will discuss your case with you and recommend specific treatment options for you. The options will be explained clearly and thoroughly to you at your appointment. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have during the consultation.
After discussion with the team at your appointment, you may feel able to make a decision about the treatment option you want to go ahead with. Arrangements can then start to be made for this. Alternatively, it may be that you want some more time to think things through. In this instance the Skin CNS Team member will keep in touch with you after your appointment. When you have made your decision the CNS nurse can pass this onto the team so that arrangements for treatment can be made.
The Skin CNS Team member will spend time with you at the end of your consultation. You will have the opportunity to ask any further questions. You will be provided with a written summary of what was discussed at your appointment and also written information about your condition. The CNS Team will explain their role in providing support, information and advice if required.
