You have had a flexible cystoscopy and TULA (Transurethral laser ablation) today, you may also have had a biopsy
It is important that you drink around 2 litres of fluid per day that contains no caffeine or alcohol for the next few days, this will help to reduce the risk of pain and discomfort when passing urine, infection and ‘flush ‘ out any blood clots or debris that may be inside your bladder.
- You may experience some light bleeding, this is normal and the urine will look a light pink colour.
- Drinking lots of water will help to flush it through.
If you experience significant bleeding (dark red urine) with clots and debris try increasing your fluid intake and resting for a short time .
When to seek help
- Persistent heavy bleeding with clots not improving with rest and fluids
- Difficulty passing urine
- Developing a fever and severe pain in the penis when passing urine or lower back and abdomen.
