Clinic Information
All appointments take place in Lincoln wing Outpatients 1, Ground Floor, St James’s Hospital.
The clinic consists of a team of doctors experienced in viral hepatitis, specialist nurses and members of the pharmacy team.
If you need to cancel this can be done via The Patient hub or by calling the triage line 0113 518 1823.
What to expect
When you arrive and book into clinic you will be called forward to be weighed.
If this is your first appointment do not eat for 3 hours prior to your appointment. A FibroScan may be performed.
What is a FibroScan
FibroScan is a specialised type of scan used to assess your liver. It measures two things:
- Liver stiffness: this gives us information about whether there is any fibrosis (long-term damage) in your liver.
- How much fat is in your liver.
It can be used alone or with other tests (such as blood tests, other scans, or biopsies) to assess the health of your liver. It is a simple, quick and painless test that uses high frequency sound waves. The scan gives immediate results. It is non-invasive, which means that it does not break the skin or enter your body. The result will then be discussed with you in the clinic appointment which takes place after the scan. You will have the opportunity to ask questions during this consultation.
Pharmacy patient contact number: 0113 206 6826 – this is answering machine only and will be picked up by the pharmacy team Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
