Post-Surgery Surveillance
The Consultant Radiologist will report your examination and your results will be sent to you via the breast secretaries along with an electronic copy to your GP. If you do not receive your results within 6-8 weeks or have any further queries about your mammogram, please contact the Breast Secretaries (0113 206 8772).
On some occasions further investigations are required to help with a diagnosis. If this is necessary Radiology will contact you by telephone or letter and you will be asked to attend for a further appointment.
If your surveillance plan requires you to have further yearly appointments you will be contacted one year from this attendance.
Family History Surveillance
The Consultant Radiologist will report your examination and your results will be sent to your GP. You should contact your GP for the results. If you do not receive your results within 6-8 weeks or have any further queries about your mammogram, please contact the Family History Secretary (0113 206 8890).
On some occasions further investigations are required to help with a diagnosis. If this is necessary Radiology will contact you by telephone or letter and you will be asked to attend for a further appointment.
Your family history surveillance plan recommends that you continue having mammograms until age 59. Between the ages of 50 and 71, you will also be invited every three years to take part in the National Breast Screening Programme. We recommend you attend this appointment.
Please note that the mammogram through the National Breast Screening programme will replace your family history surveillance mammogram for that year. One year after your screening programme mammogram, you will then be invited for your next family history surveillance mammogram.
From the age of 60 to 71 you will follow the National Breast Screening Programme, which offers a mammogram every three years.
