Not as strenuous as it sounds, especially when you can reward yourself with a hot drink and snack from M&S or Costa.
This route takes you through the inside of the hospital to Gledhow wing, then back to the ward the same way.
Accessibility
This route involves going up and down a long ramp that you may struggle with, though it does have a handrail to help and one seat to rest on halfway.
Both inside and outside the flooring is quite smooth, there are a couple of dropped curbs outside but should be possible to navigate even with a drip stand. There are rest seats and handrails along the route.
There are toilets in the Bexley wing atrium, on the second floor of Bexley wing by the lifts, and on the ground floor of Gledhow wing.
This route is a bit winding, so follow the directions carefully.

Walking route directions
1. Start point. Turn left out of the main ward entrance.
2. Walk down the corridor and turn right at the end.
3. Take the first left where you will find yourself at the blue lift. Take the lift to floor 2.
4. Turn right out of the lift then immediately turn right again.
5. Continue along the straight corridor to the bridge.
6. Walk along the link bridge, the windows will be on your left.
7. As you get to the end of the bridge and enter Chancellor wing, you shall see some lifts on the right. Take the lift to the ground floor.
8. When emerging into the open area on ground floor, go through the doors shown (signposted multi-storey car park).
9. Follow the corridor and then turn left at the end.
10. Walk up the corridor, until you’re forced to turn right at the end.
11. As you turn right head through these doors and go straight.
12. Continue going straight along this corridor (follow signs to Gledhow Wing or The Mall).
13. Turn left at the end of the corridor.
14. Turn right through the wooden doors, following the signs to Gledhow wing.
15. Take care going down the ramp.
16. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp.
17. Pass M&S on your left to reach the seating area.
18. You have arrived! We recommend taking a break with or without a tea/coffee before heading back to the ward.)
19. When you are ready to carry on, return to the ramp you came down, passing M and S on your right.
20. Walk up the ramp and turn left at the top.
21. Follow the corridor past the ‘Leeds Way’ posters.
22. Follow the corridor as it turns left (this is just after an exit on your right).
23. Head straight on down the corridor, it begins to go downhill.
24. After a while, the corridor turns right.
25. The corridor then goes slightly left soon after, but keep going more or less straight ahead.
26. Go through a set of double doors into a larger area in Chancellor Wing.
27. Head towards the lifts and take it up to floor 2.
28. Leave the lift and go left, follow signs to Bexley Wing Link Bridge.
29. Go through the double doors and follow the Link Bridge corridor.
30. This corridor can be a bit confusing as it all looks the same! Keep going straight and you’ll pass some windows on your right.
31. At the end of the link bridge, continue straight along the corridor till you get the end. You’ll pass HDU on your left.
32. When you’ve reached the end of the corridor, turn left arriving at the blue lift. Take the lift up to level 4.
33. Turn left out of the lift then an immediate right.
34. Follow the corridor as it turns to the left and walk along it.
Finish point. 35. Continue going straight until you reach the entrance to the ward on your right.
