Ward J98 walking route

Step outside for some fresh air, and visit the Research and Innovation Centre garden over the road.

Take a seat on one of the benches and enjoy the flowers and sculpture.

Accessibility

This route has no stairs. The indoor portion is on smooth hospital corridors, and outside the surface is fairly smooth pavement. There are very slight slopes, and there are some dropped curbs.

Handrails are available inside only.

There are rest seats along much of the route and at the destination.

The noise level is low to medium and there may be people smoking outside.

There is one set of toilets available en route.

This route involves crossing two roads, one using a zebra crossing and the other is a very small road.

This route is probably not suitable for someone bringing a drip stand with them.

Walking route directions

1. Start point. Leave the ward via the main double door.

2. Walk down the corridor and turn right at the end.

3. Turn right at the end.

4. Turn right out of the lift then immediately turn right again.

5. Turn right out of the lift then immediately turn right again.

6. Continue along the straight corridor to the bridge.

7. Walk along the link bridge, the windows will be on your left.

8. As you get to the end of the bridge and enter Chancellor wing, you shall see some lifts on the right. Take the lift to the ground floor.

9. When emerging into the open area on the ground floor, go through the doors shown (signposted multi-storey car park).

10. Follow the corridor and then turn left at the end.

11. Walk up the corridor, until you’re forced to turn right at the end.

12. As you turn right, head through these doors and go straight.

13. When you reach this junction turn right (follow signs to Lincoln Wing).

14. Head down the ramp, then continue down the corridor until you reach reception on your left. Enter reception through the double doors.

15. Turn left and follow the path round.

16. Follow the pavement until you reach a fork.

17. Take the left paved path.

19. Once you’ve crossed the road, you’re at the garden. Follow the pavement round to the left to sit on a bench.

20. Head towards another zebra crossing, you should see Gledhow Wing across the garden area.

22. Head across the green roundabout straight to the main entrance of Gledhow Wing.

23. You can take a break here, visit M and S, costa or the restaurant or continue on the loop back towards the ward.

24. When you are ready to carry on, with the main entrance behind you go up the ramp to your left.

25. Walk to the top of the ramp and turn left at the top.

26. Follow the corridor as it turns right and continue past the ‘Leeds Way’ posters.

27. You will come to an exit on your right with a sign to the multi-storey car park- go through this exit.

28. Go through the automatic doors to end up outside.

29. Cross at the zebra crossing straight ahead.

30. Follow the pavement to the left after you have crossed.

31. You will go over a zebra crossing as you head towards Bexley Wing. Walk between the wooden panelling on the path.

33. You will get to the main entrance of Bexley wing, enter through the revolving doors.

34. Here you are in the Bexley wing atrium. Feel free to stop for another break here, if you like before heading back to the ward.

35. When you want to return to the ward, go to the red lift. To find the red lift, from reception walk along with the wall on your left passing the green lift on your right before coming to the red lift.

36. Take the red lift up to level 5.

37. Turn left out of the lift and walk a little down the corridor.

Finish point. 38. Return to the ward through the doors directly in front of you.
