Feedback given for Breast Imaging, Chancellors Wing, St James’s Hospital
“I visited the breast clinic due to mastitis and an abscess. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to look after me. I had to bring my 5 month old son along with me as hes breastfeeding. The team were kind enough to offer us a side room so I could feed him. I didnt even request this, they just offered. They brought me a cup of tea and some biscuits. I have been back a few times for treatment etc & each time Ive been looked after. I have seen numerous members of staff and each one has been utterly amazing and kind. What a fantastic team!!”

“I brought my daughter in twice yesterday with extreme ear pain. Various staff members dealt with her. They were so caring and understanding with her and me (mum) got her the pain relief required and contacted the ENT team urgently. The whole experience was stressful and upsetting but the team acted quickly and as careful as they could with a screaming obviously very distressed 5 year old. What wonderful people. Very much appreciated and dont know what Id of done without them. Thank you all again.”
Feedback given to the Renal Intervention Centre
“The staff was professional, helpful and ever so caring. The healthcares, nurses, porters and receptionist too. Everyone was really welcoming, made me and my mum feel comfortable and took care of my needs throughout the entire day. They were timely in everything they were doing, when I asked for pain relief I was given it in less than 10 minutes, I was cold and the healthcare adjusted the temperature of the room number of times for me without any hassle. Really appreciated the fact they offered my mum a drink too. Brilliant patient service, made my day less stressful having caring staff around.”

“I am incredibly grateful for the care I received during my stay in hospital. From the first moment I was met with compassion, kindness and reassurance that truly made all the difference. Every doctor, nurse and staff member treated me not just as a patient, but as a person and that meant more than words can express. The medical team was attentive, gentle and always willing to take the time to listen and explain, which brought me so much comfort during a difficult time. The nurses as with the housekeeping staff went above and beyond with their warmth and constant care, making sure I was always a priority.”

“Obviously not where anybody wants their babies to end up, but the care was amazing, for us as parents, the twins & even for our daughter who frequented the ward with us. I felt comfortable going home & knowing the boys were being looked after & given lots of attention. Never felt like we couldn’t ask questions & everything was explained in detail or explained again if we needed clarification. Felt like all the staff were rooting for the boys to get better, nothing was ever too much trouble for anyone. Thank you so much for the work you do L & R are super grateful as are we x.”

“I was incredibly anxious about the care or lack thereof I would receive and the risk to me and my baby. The care I received was exemplary, I couldn’t fault it and it was a far better experience than I could have hoped for and compared with my first birth it was wonderful. There was a great continuity of care, the same midwife who checked me in for my C-section stayed with me the whole time including in theatre and after in recovery until I was returned to the post natal ward – this was wonderful and reassuring”

“All the staff who I came in contact with treated me with dignity and professionalism. The support staff, i.e., the porters, cleaners, and the food and drinks trolley staff, were respectful of my bed space and the fact that I had my bed space curtains drawn most of the time. The nurses and the auxiliary staff were fantastic. My catheter needed changing, and were really careful with the withdrawal and re-insertion of the replacement. Plus, the constant emptying of the bag was done professionally and efficiently. Thank you.”

“Everyone has been so lovely and kind. They have been understanding and aware that my condition fluctuates. They encourage me to be independent while still making sure I am safe. Everyone from nurses to support workers to physios and occupational health and more, have engaged with me and do a wonderful job of not just listening to me but properly hearing me. They cheer me on and quietly check I am okay when I need it. Could not think of a better place to have ended up after A&E.”

“The appointment was booked around my families personal circumstances. I have two children with high complex SEN needs and I have no family or friends to watch the other child. I had two specific dates for when the other child was attending playscheme at Leeds Mencap. They fit us in within the date we needed and within the hours I didnt have my other child. This meant the world to me and alleviated so much stress and anxiety. We had no waiting about, the team were working to time schedule, no hold ups, they did exactly what they said they would for my child in terms of letting him know at every opportunity.”
Feedback given for L23
“My medical care has been outstanding, the nursing care the same. Ive never before found myself in a situation where I needed help to wash and go to the toilet which was a very humbling and vulnerable experience, but this help was there when I needed it and was always kind and dignified. The healthcare assistants were always there and ready ti help and would alert a nurse if they couldnt. The housekeeping and catering staff were all excellent, kind and helpful. I cant speak more highly of the whole ward 23 team. I could write an essay on all the ways the team took amazing care of me during my admission.”

Feedback given for Breast Surgery, Chancellors Wing
“Every single person I met in the breast clinic outpatients department at St James was incredibly helpful, caring, friendly, professional and put me at ease at what was a very scary time for me. When I mentioned I am autistic, the nurse and specialist/Dr were very helpful and said if I needed any accommodations to let them know. The staff who conducted the mammograms and ultrasound procedures (including draining my cyst) explained things very clearly and were sensitive to my neurodivergent needs/anxiety and though they must have been very busy they didnt make me feel rushed when I needed to take a minute”
Feedback given for Clinical Neurophysiology
“So sadly the toilets were not working due to an outside issue. I was about to have an EMG and desperately needed the toilet! The lady based in a little office by reception was so kind and helpful. Also the nurse and doctor who conducted the EMG were so nice; talked me through everything, didnt make me feel silly for my fear of needles, and took things at my pace. It was an awful thing to even contemplate MND following my Dad dying from MND, but the team really reassured me with their thoughts and treated me as me, not a number. You were not very good you were outstanding and I thank you.”

“Actually the care I received was exceptional. The interpersonal skills of just about all the staff made feel valued and safe. Their professionalism, knowledge and skill was of a very high standard. I was particularly impressive by the patience and empathy showed towards very poorly people who at times seemed confused and were in need of friendly reassurance. I was impressed with the medical staff’s thoroughness and ability to explain things in a non patronising manner yet easy to follow. I really enjoyed the food and the cleanliness of the ward. Again the staff were lovely.”

“Absolutely the most personalised and patient centre care I ever have experienced. All staff from warts keepers, nurses, the theatre staff and surgeon were exceptional from start to finish. The spoke to R, my daughter herself asking her questions addressing her fears and making her feel valued. They ensured use of her preferred name and took time to get to know who she was as a person. They explained to me as a parent what was happening were caring and considerate. Even going as far to ring me when I needed to move my car to advise of free parking. They offered a hug when she was out.”

“I cant honestly thank staff enough, they are truly amazing at what they do. Everyone from admin and reception staff, to cleaners and the nursing staff. We have been so fortunate to meet such a fantastic group of people. They have supported us and our daughter from the moment we arrived with care, compassion and professionalism. They have looked after me as a mum, as a woman and as someone who has been around trauma, and difficulties that can sometimes happen on the ward. They have fed me, got advice and support for me and they have given my daughter the best care every second of everyday.”

“Upon arrival you are met with smiles and positiveness. You are instantly felt at ease. The play team in the waiting area go above and beyond. There were 40 children on ward when we arrived and you wouldn’t know how hard they are working other than how much they’re running around because I didn’t hear one complaint nor did I see one frown. When I spoke to M his feedback was about the theatre staff giving him so much confidence and the sister on the ward made him feel like he wasn’t just one of many. If I was to ever have to go anywhere for my child’s care again I would want it to be here.”
Feedback given for Emergency Department, LGI
“I received excellent help from the staff, doctors and nurses at Leeds General Infirmary. I have bipolar disorder and they showed me true empathy and understanding, especially when I was eratic, didnt think anything was wrong with me and wanted to come home. The nurse I saw first listened to me, understood me and organised blood tests for me and managed to get me to see the doctor. The doctor was very kind to me aswell and even though he was under pressure, he assured me that if I wanted to go home he would contact Leeds Crisis Team and ask them to ring. The Crisis Team came when I got home.”

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the entire hospital team for the exceptional care I received during my stay following a heart attack. Thank you for dedicating your valuable time to look after me with such professionalism, compassion, and genuine kindness. It was clear to me from the very beginning that each member of the team truly puts their heart into their work. Your commitment, empathy, and attention to every detail made a difficult time much easier to endure. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been treated in such a place”

“Every single member of staff I had contact with was kind and understanding. I have ASD and ADHD and previous medical trauma so I come with some extra needs and the staff were so brilliant at responding to whatever help I asked for. I felt very well looked after. I was given clear information and was given time to make a big decision in light of new information. I was sent home with clear precise information about aftercare and I felt very safe. Thankyou.”
Feedback given for Emergency Department, St James’s Hospital
“Came in with my severely disabled son via ambulance. We were given a side room which was fantastic much safer in terms of picking anything else up in an and e and a calmer space for him to be. The staff members all spoke to L explained what they were doing even though he doesn’t understand and cant communicate it was nice to see. We were also given the sensory bag which came in handy with the bite toy. The doctors were thorough and kind. Including the porter and x Ray team. L was treated well and my wishes and concerns were taken in to account.”

“Every single midwife who cared for me and my son were absolutely incredible. The kindness and compassion shown by staff was astounding. We were in hospital for 17 days due to my son needing antibiotics, which is no place first time parents want to be, however every single midwife made sure that we were well looked after, that we had everything we needed, they checked we were ok physically and mentally, they checked to see if my husband was ok mentally, none of us were forgotten about. The midwives deserve recognition for their incredible compassion and dedication to their jobs ”

“I scored you very good because excellent wasn’t an option. Every member of staff that I spoke to was very friendly and made me feel at ease. Starting from walking in and speaking to reception right through to surgery. It was clear that this is a very busy department and the staff were incredibly busy. Despite this every one of them made me feel like they had all the time in the world to speak to me if I had any questions. I cant fault the service I received, you were a credit to the NHS. Thank you.”
