As a teaching hospital Board member, Julia is the nominated Non-Executive from the University of Leeds.
In 2007, Prof. Brown set up the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) Registered Clinical Trials Units Network. For the last 16 years she has directed this nationwide network that includes 53 academic clinical trials units, fostering collaborative working to establish the UK as a world leader in clinical research.
During her highly successful career, Prof. Brown has designed and overseen the delivery of multicentre national and international clinical trials working across a range of disease areas assessing a wide range of interventions. Her published research has gone on to influence treatment guidelines nationally and around the globe.
Prof. Brown’s main research interests are in the design and analysis of complex trials and the development and analysis of patient-reported outcomes in clinical trials. Prof. Brown spent a number of years in the NHS and industry before joining the University of Leeds. She is an Emeritus National Institute for Health and Care Research Senior Investigator.
