Our Paediatric Dermatology Nursing Team has expanded somewhat in the last 6 years from 1 nurse, now consisting of 4 clinical nurse specialists and a senior clinical support worker.
We run medical and nurse-led clinics and also have a dedicated dressing clinic which is run by our Senior Clinical Support Worker (SCSW). This dedicated clinic allows our SCSW to demonstrate topical treatments and dressing applications for patients and their families. This service receives excellent feedback, and our Trust is one of the only Trusts we are aware of that provides this service.
We hold our clinics in both the Outpatient Department at Chapel Allerton Hospital and the Paediatric Outpatient Department at LGI.
We also liaise with other professionals such as community nurses, health visitors, social workers and GP’s as well as carrying out school and home visits as required.
We are a passionate team who are committed to developing the service to ensure we are providing the highest level of care to our patients and their families.
Our Nursing team recently won an award for BDNG Team of the Year 2021! The BDNG are a national Dermatology group who promote and support education and development to nurses across the country that specialise or have a special interest in dermatology.
This is a prestigious award from the BDNG to recognise the importance of team working and delivering high quality care within dermatology. Therefore, it was a great honour to receive this award!
