We provide a Radiographic Imaging service to Dental and Maxillo-facial clinics within the Leeds Dental Institute and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We also see both NHS & private patients for specialist imaging from the wider Yorkshire region.
The Department performs over 20,000 examinations per year using state-of-the-art equipment in a modern clinical environment.
What we do
The department provides a range of dental imaging examinations, including two-dimensional intra-oral and panoramic examinations used to view individual teeth or the whole mouth. If more complex imaging is required, Cone Beam CT examinations are undertaken to provide three-dimensional imaging of the skull and jaws.
Our team of specialist Consultant Radiologists provide a reporting service for imaging performed within the Dental Institute in addition to specialist opinions on complex cases referred from external providers.
The Department facilitates the education and training of undergraduate Dentistry students, Dental Nurses, Hygiene and Therapy trainees, and Undergraduate Radiographers.
Information for Patients
If you are being seen in a clinic within the Dental Institute you may be required to have an X-ray or CBCT scan. Your dentist will discuss this with you and will refer you to the Radiology department to have imaging during your appointment.
The Radiology Department also provides booked appointments for patients who have been referred for imaging from external providers. You will receive a letter from the department with information on when and where to attend.
