Please note that we are unable to service or maintain hearing aids obtained from other hearing aid providers and we are only able to supply batteries to those who produce a Leeds Teaching Hospitals’ hearing aid battery issue card.
If you have obtained a hearing aid privately or through an AQP (Any Qualified Provider) service you will need to contact them to help you with any aftercare services, repairs and battery supplies. Some of these AQPs are:
- Specsavers Audiology
- Scrivens Hearing Care
- Meanwood Audiology and Ear, Nose and Throat Services
- Bramhope Audiology and Ear, Nose and Throat Services
- Alwoodley Clinic – Audiology based at Harrogate hospital
- Boots Hearing Care
Your hearing and hearing aid care will be provided for a minimum of three years by your issuing provider. This should include any hearing aid repairs, services, advice, battery issue and perishable parts to the hearing aid/s (i.e. tubing or ear mould due to wear).
Please check with your hearing aid provider how you contact them to arrange appointments (if required) and how often they recommend you see them for a hearing aid service. At Leeds Teaching Hospitals we suggest having your hearing aid/s serviced every 6 months. At this time you should be due a new supply of batteries. As long as you have your battery issue card, we can provide your service and battery supply at the same time saving you several journeys throughout the year. This should be done with a booked appointment at one of our aftercare service locations mentioned above.
Battery Replacements
We advise that you dispose of your used hearing aid batteries in a battery bin which you can usually find at your local supermarket, hearing aid repair clinic or waste disposal units.
You can obtain replacement batteries at the hearing aid repair clinics from main reception by producing your Hearing Aid Battery Issue Card.
You may find that you are unable to obtain replacement batteries without a battery issue card. Please contact us if you have lost or not received one.
Please note that the average life-span of a battery is around 5 to 7 days. If you are worried that your batteries are not lasting very long, please book an appointment at one of the hearing aid aftercare/repair clinics and we can check your hearing aid/s.
