Expertise
Our surgeons are both fellowship trained corneal and refractive surgeons. Surgeons without fellowship training or who are not Fellows of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists may charge their employers less to perform laser eye surgery.
Continuity of care
Our surgeons direct surgical and optometric care at the unit, conduct all consultations, and perform all treatments. We do not delegate important aspects of our care to less expensive staff.
One price for laser eye surgery
Regardless of your prescription, we only charge our patients one fee for surgery, and include everything you need in that fee – no surprises!

Meet the team
Andrew J. Morrell, FRCS FRCOphth Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon
Mr. Morrell is a corneal specialist working primarily out of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He has run the regional laser service for 13 years at St. James University Hospital and one of the first surgeons in the UK to perform laser eye surgery.
Mr. Morrell was chosen among his peers to co-develop the Royal College Guidelines to Standards for Laser Refractive Surgery and he is a former Regional Director of Training for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Mr. Morrell has performed over 2000 laser refractive procedures.
Seema Anand MB BS, MS(Ophth), DNB(Ophth), FRCS Ed(Ophth), CertLRS, PGDip Cataract and Refractive Surgery Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon
Ms Anand is an experienced corneal and cataract surgeon, routinely dealing with complex tertiary referrals. She holds the Royal College of Ophthalmologists certification in laser and lens based refractive surgery and has additionally obtained post graduate certification in cataract and refractive surgery from Ulster University. She is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and surgical trainees. She has been appointed as the College Tutor for ophthalmic surgical trainees at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Ahmed Bardan CertLRS FRCOphth FRCSEd Consultant Ophthalmologist
Mr Bardan is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, he did his Masters of Science in Ophthalmology studying the use of the new laser technology in wavefront customised refractive correction of complex eyes and obtained his PhD in Ophthalmology from Alexandria University in Egypt studying combined cataract surgery with the novel Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) techniques.
As well as having a wide range of experience in the management of complex and challenging cataract cases, using premium and multifocal intraocular lenses, he is also an experienced laser and lens refractive surgeon.
Arthur Okonkwo, MRes(Transplant) FRCOphth CertLRS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon
Mr Okonkwo is proud to be a Cornea specialist in Leeds Teaching Hospitals, the largest teaching hospital in Europe. He completed Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowships in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, and The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne. Mr Okonkwo performs the latest techniques in Cornea, Cataract, Lens and Laser Eye Surgery.
Mr Okonkwo holds the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Certificate in Laser and Refractive Surgery; an examination he now develops questions for. Additionally, he achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery with Distinction from Ulster University.

At St James’s Laser Vision, we’ve put a lot of time and effort into procuring systems that are configured to talk to each other so that the treatment plan data produced during the examination and diagnostic phase of the refractive surgery process is immediately transferred to the MEL 90 excimer laser and the Visumax 800. This streamlines and controls the entire process, fully supporting individual treatment plans and delivering the very highest levels of patient care.
