We are a friendly team who deliver more than 8,000 babies every year, providing maternity care at St James’s Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary and in the community. We have 18 community teams working across Leeds – from the hills of Wharfedale to inner city Chapeltown.
Our specialist midwifery teams include preterm, multiples, diabetes, teenage pregnancy, bereavement, health equity, Haamla and homebirth. Leeds is a Maternal Medicine Centre, bringing together a range of specialists to provide care for anyone who is pregnant and has a complex medical condition. We also have a regional Fetal Medicine Unit which serves a population of 50,000 people as one of only 15 specialist centres across the country. Our teams work in collaboration with neonatal specialists to provide dedicated care for babies that are born in Leeds and require surgical or cardiac intervention after birth.
