We look after children and young people with: inflammatory conditions affecting joints, muscles, connective tissue, bones and blood vessels, including Periodic Fever Syndromes and non-infectious uveitis. We also see children and young people with concerns relating to musculo-skeletal pain, including hypermobile joints and back pain.
Our department is made up of doctors, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a psychologist and a youth worker.
We are happy to assess children and young people with persistent musculo-skeletal concerns or symptoms suggestive of an inflammatory condition affecting joints, muscles, connective tissue, bones and blood vessels.
Referrals to the team can be made via your GP or hospital doctor.
New referrals for young people after their 16th birthday are usually advised to go directly to an adult Rheumatology team.
