Neuromyelitis optica is a severe inflammatory demyelinating disease that affects optic nerves and spinal cord without affecting the brain. Aquaporin 4 has been dentified a major NMO antigen. Samples received without a complete Diagnostic and Advisory Service for Neuromyelitis optic referral form will not be processed.
