
Carboxy-terminal collagen crosslinks (CTX) reflects the resorption of mature collagen by osteoclasts. Used to assess patient response to antiresorptive therapy / compliance. Baseline level required. Levels are increased in any condition with increased osteoclast activity such as immobilisation, Paget’s disease, osteoporosis, metastatic cancer, primary hyperparathyroidism.
