
11-DOC is used in the differential diagnosis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (11 beta hydroxylase deficiency). 11-DOC should be determined if a 46 XX virilized infant has normal 17OH-progesterone. 11-DOC is used as part of the metyrapone test as a measure of the pituitary-adrenal axis.
