Insulin autoantibodies may be seen in the following: IDDM prior to treatment (IAA are sometimes considered of little value because they are only found in up to 40% of new onset diabetics); autoimmune polyendocrinopathies; and following exogenous insulin for determining the cause of insulin resistance.
