LTHT appoints Richard Corbridge as Chief Digital and Information Officer

Richard Corbridge has been appointed as Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Richard joins the Trust from the Health Service Executive in Ireland, where he has been Chief Information Officer since 2014 and Chief Executive Officer for eHealth Ireland. During this time, Richard has made some significant steps in improving the healthcare technology system in Ireland that has seen a plethora of awards and recognition for the team.
Richard is a globally recognised expert in healthcare technology and strategy, and has been named as a top CIO in a string of published lists in recent years.
Previously, Richard led the delivery of a wide range of systems and processes in the NHS with a focus to aid the provision of healthcare and clinical research.
Chief Executive of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Julian Hartley welcomed Richard’s appointment. He said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming Richard to the Trust and he joins us at a crucial time as digital healthcare will increasingly enable our vision to provide the best specialist and integrated care for patients. That we’ve appointed a CDIO of Richard’s calibre is a real statement of intent by our Board.”
Commenting on his appointment, Richard said: “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to join the team in Leeds. The board want to build on the promise of digital for the healthcare of the people of Leeds and to assist every member of staff in what they do every day, I am excited to be part of the Leeds journey. The team across Leeds in health and social care are recognised globally as a team that are working together; to be appointed into that team is an exciting opportunity for me that I look forward to.”
Richard, who is originally from Barnsley and returning to his Yorkshire roots, is expected to start his new role in November 2017 but will be spending some time in the Trust over the next few months to learn more about The Leeds Way.
