LTHT teams nominated for Nursing Times awards
Monday 16th October 2017
Our team of research nurses and the ward team from J21 are both in the running for a Nursing Times Award next month.
The research nursing team, including Senior Research Nurses Tracey Crowther, Suzanne Rogerson, and Julie Bailey, have been shortlisted in the Clinical Research Nursing category, which is sponsored by the NIHR Clinical Research Network.
Meanwhile, Senior Sister Honeylette Taleon and the rest of the J21 team have been nominated for Team of the Year.
The Nursing Times Awards are a prestigious annual awards event that recognises excellence in nursing and patient care over several different categories.
The research nurses have focussed on educating and guiding staff by producing an induction booklet for the research delivery team. The booklet covers all aspects of research delivery, from study set-up, the roles of different members of a research team, safety reporting, informed consent, and more.
The J21 team were keen to show how they have drastically improved their ward environment, using safety huddles and effective team-building to bring about an improved workplace for staff and a safer and more caring environment for patients.
Both teams travelled to London last month to present to a panel of judges. The presentations lasted 10 minutes each, where the teams had to explain to judges why they deserved the award, using video testimonials and showing evidence of their hard work.
The judges now have a difficult decision-making process ahead of next month. The nominees from each category will be attending an awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 2 November, where the winners of this year’s Nursing Times Awards will be announced.
Best of luck to both our teams, and well done for getting this far!
