Housed in our Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) at the St James University Hospital Campus, Leeds the academy has provided high quality training and education within the Trust for nearly 6 years.

Established by the Research and Innovation Senior Management Team and Lead Nurse for Research and Innovation Education. We have a small and dedicated specialist team of educators and business support staff.

We have quickly established an excellent reputation in the design, delivery and evaluation of research education and training locally, regionally and nationally.

What you can expect from our training

The Research Academy’s CPD accredited modules are grounded in evidence based training methods and evaluation models. This efficient and flexible approach offers education which is designed to meet the needs of health care professionals regardless of their roles.

The Research and Innovation Academy curriculum encompasses the following areas:

Other modules include:

Teaching in health care profession requires Vaughn’s Microburst Teaching and Learning model (2001). This is ‘a teaching-learning model which maximises the learning process and is exciting, fun, and motivating for both teacher and learner.’ We apply this model in our learning modules as we have found it to be an effective and successful method of teaching. The feedback we have received so far has been incredibly positive.
