This route takes you outside through the hospital site to a hedged garden outside the Thackray Medical Museum.
Accessibility
This route has a very mild incline. The surfaces are mainly smooth pavement, but there is some woodchip and rough grass at the destination (although you do not have to walk on this.) There is a small section near the carpark where there isn’t a pavement, although cars go slowly around here. As you go past the chapel there is one uneven step and not all the curbs are lowered, so you should be reasonably steady on your feet to do this route. Unfortunately you would be unable to take a drip stand with you. Although this route is outside it shouldn’t be too noisy. There are seats available along the route but only until the chapel (leaving the last half of the walk without any). There are benches at the destination, but you must walk on grass to get to these. There are only handrails available during the brief inside section.

Walking route directions
1. Start point. Walk out of the ward and walk through the double doors at the end of the corridor.
2. Turn left and walk along the corridor until you reach the lifts on your left.
3. Take the lift down to floor 0.
4. Walk left along the corridor then take the first left through the double doors to reception.
5. Exit through the automatic doors.
6. Turn left and follow the path round.
7. Follow the pavement until you reach a fork.
8. Continue on the pavement to your right until the road, you should reach a zebra crossing.
9. Cross at the zebra crossing.
10. Turn right and continue on the pavement with the roundabout to your right.
11. Continue on the pavement as it takes a left.
12. When past the bus stop, continue following the pavement to your left.
13. Watch out for the uneven step as you pass!
14. Follow the road straight ahead until you reach the Thackray Museum.
15. You will see a small hedged garden.
16. Enjoy the benches in the garden.
17. To return, retrace your steps. With the road on your left, walk back towards the bus stop.
18. Follow the pavement past the bus stop until you reach the zebra crossing.
19. Cross at the zebra crossing and turn right; follow the path round until you reach the Lincoln Wing entrance.
20. Go through the double doors out of reception and turn right.
21. Walk along the corridor to the lifts and take the lift to floor 1.
Finish point. 22. Walk right along the corridor then return to the ward through the double doors on your right that are the shared entrance to J49 and J50. Follow signs to return to your specific ward.
