Obstetric physiotherapy aims to help treat common symptoms during pregnancy or shortly after delivery.
Common problems include:
•Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP)
•Lower back pain
•Mid back pain
•Separation of the abdominal muscles (Diastasis recti abdominus)
•Pins and needles in finger tips (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)
•Bladder Leakage
•Bowel Leakage
•Pelvic Organ Prolapse
Once you have been referred you will be offered an appointment in a group (Zoom) or individual setting, this may include telephone and / or face to face appointments.
If you are getting any of the above symptoms please seek a referral to our service via your midwife or GP. Our service has shown that 97% of our patients report improvement in symptoms following physiotherapy.
Please note if your problems are not pregnancy related, (you are over 6 weeks post natal or under 12 weeks antenatal) your care would be best suited to see the community musculoskeletal physiotherapy team. Your GP can refer you for this.
