Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future.
More information about Physiotherapy can be found at CSP.org.uk. All the Physiotherapists working at the Hospital are Chartered Physiotherapists and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Physiotherapists work with both Adults and Children. The Adult Physiotherapy Service is part of the Adult Therapies Clinical Service Unit and work across all sites of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The Children’s Physiotherapy Service is part of the Children’s Hospital which is based on the Leeds General Infirmary site.
As a teaching hospital we are proud to work with local, national and international physiotherapy students. They may be involved in your care.

Physiotherapy Apprentices
We are proud to support some of our Support Workers to gain Physiotherapy degrees through an apprenticeship route each year. Please note that Apprenticeships are not available to people who are not already employed by the Adult Therapies department.
Work Experience
We have limited capacity to provide work experience to individuals who are passionate about joining the Physiotherapy profession. We usually offer 5 days of observation only, which is timetabled across St James’s hospital, Leeds General Infirmary and Chapel Allerton hospital, seeing a varied range of physiotherapy teams. You would need to be able to get to all 3 sites (but not on the same day).

Volunteers
Volunteering is very rewarding and our patients really value the time our volunteers spend with them. We welcome volunteers at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
