New IBD clinic opens at St James's Hospital

19 May 2017

Today is World IBD Day 2017 which hopes to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, known as inflammatory bowel disease.

Last week we welcomed Crohn's & Colitis UK - Leeds and District Network to formally open the new IBD clinic at St James’s Hospital.

The charity have funded the refurbishment of the clinic in Lincoln Wing to provide a purpose built office space for the IBD clinical nurse specialists, but also a waiting area and three consultation rooms.

This dedicated space will allow the nurses to run their telephone clinics in a more suitable environment, but also give them the opportunity to bring patients in for examination in between their scheduled appointments should they need to be seen.

The nurses new office has been named ‘The Warren Room’ after nurse Lisa Warren who has worked at LTHT for 36 years, and in the IBD team for 12 years. Lisa was happy to cut the ribbon and declare the unit officially open!

Thank you to the charity and all of its supporters for their fundraising and continuous support. This new unit will make a huge difference to our patients and staff.
