Uniquely, internationally trained nurses who train here at Leeds can also then have a place at our Leeds CTC OSCE centre which is on-site. We would aim to schedule the OSCE exam after the four weeks training in the fifth week and have established a positive working relationship with the Test Centre to achieve this. Read more about the OSCE centre.
Our Test of Competence Training Programme equips candidates with the practical and theoretical knowledge to pass the OSCE exam and incorporates the ten OSCE stations structure: the course syllabus of four stations of APIE (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation), four stations to test skills (two pairs of two skills) and two stations to assess the candidate’s values and behaviours and evidence based practice.
In line with the NMC and the code we deliver person centred training that is reflective of our clinical practice, the intensive four week programme is delivered through teaching facilitation and self-study. Study materials and videos are provided via Google Classroom and an electronic bulletin board to maximise utilisation and provide information at the candidate’s finger tips. We have training space based off-site with good transport connections.
