Apprentice Clinical Support Worker

The Apprentice Clinical Support Worker role is a fifteen month apprenticeship within our Clinical Service Units.

The entry requirements for this role are:

  • Minimum aged 18 years old, no upper age limit
  • No formal qualifications or experience necessary

Individuals completing this apprenticeship will gain:

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship certificate in Healthcare Support Worker
  • Level 2 Extended Award in Work Skills for Effective Employment
  • Level 1 Functional Skills on Literacy and Numeracy
  • Cavendish Care Certificate

The Programme consists of:

  • Based on a ward
  • 3 weeks induction (Monday - Friday full time)
  • One study day per month plus 2 additional full weeks study
  • Tutor/assessor support
  • Tutorials and private study in your own time
  • Flexible working working shifts - a minimum of 30 hours per week over 7 days
  • 27 days paid annual leave plus bank holiday

As part of the apprenticeship you will be required to complete an End Point Assessment.

Trainee Clinical Support Worker

The Trainee Clinical Support Worker role is a 6 month Band 2 role.

The entry requirements for this role are:

  • A Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent)
  • Maths and English GCSE A*-C (4-9) or equivalent
  • No paid care experience

Individuals completing the 6 month role will gain:

  • Care Certificate
  • Guaranteed Band 2 Clinical Support Worker post at the end of a successful training programme

The Programme consists of:

  • 6 months programme to incorporate the care certificate and all mandatory and priority training
  • Option to then apply to the Trainee Nursing Associate programme as part of the Future You Programme

A Senior Clinical Support Worker role is a Band 3 role.

  • Internal applicants are eligible to be shortlisted with significant experience as a Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker with an obligation to complete the relevant qualification within the first 12 months of employment

The Trainee Nursing Associate role is a 2 year training role - a mix of academic and on the job learning. At the end of the training Trainee Nursing Associates will achieve a Nursing Associate qualification and NMC registration. The Nursing Associate role is a Band 4 role.

The entry requirements for this role are:

  • Nursing Associate qualification including End Point Assessment
  • Nursing Associate NMC registration

This role is part of the Future You Programme.

The Nursing Associate role has been designed to bridge the gap between Registered and unregistered staff within a care environment. You will provide and monitor care and work with the MDT. You will also undertake administration of medicines and are accountable to work within your scope of practice.

The entry requirements for this role are:

This role allows you to transfer your current qualification to gain a BsC in Nursing. You will be required to complete further academic studies and attend placements in a variety of setting.
