Kind donation to Children’s CF and respiratory unit

21 July 2017

The Children’s CF and respiratory unit recently received a wonderful donation from Andrew Wright, father of long-term asthma patient, Alice.

Alice was a patient with the unit for 10 years, visiting regularly to monitor her asthma. To say thank you, her father, as a member of the Iuventutis Freemasons, chose the Regional Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Fund as their charity of the year.

To help raise funds they held several events including pig racing (of the toys-on-a-track kind), a ladies’ evening, and a raffle.

Altogether they raised a fantastic £750, which was presented to Carol Sowerby, Sister, from the Children’s CF and respiratory unit by Alice and Andrew.

Carol said: “Without kind donations such as these it would not be possible to provide a child-friendly environment. We hope to use the money to buy new toys for the waiting area and small gifts for those patients which have been brave during painful procedures.”
