Alzheimer's Research UK

Alzheimer’s Research UK has a large range of funding schemes and joint partnerships calls available here. Open calls include;

  1. Race Against Dementia Fellowship here. Submission deadline; 20th January 2021
  2. Senior Research Fellowship here. Submission deadline; TBC
  3. Dementia Consortium here. Submission deadline; Regular deadlines for Expressions of Interest.
Ataxia-Telangiectasia Society

The AT Society has a call for projects of between 1 - 3 years, leading to major advances towards being able to treat neurodegeneration in AT.

Ataxia UK

Ataxia UK hold two rounds of preliminary applications for funding each year in June and October.

Brace

BRACE will consider applications for PhD studentships, pilot projects and equipment grants. For submission dates please see here.

Brain Research UK

Brain Research UK offers PhD studentships of up to £120,000 and the call will open in July/August 2020. BRUK also provides Project grants of up to £300,000 and the next call opens September 2020 here.

British Scoliosis Research Foundation

The BSRF launch a range of research funding opportunities on a bi-annual basis. They are Small exploratory grant, New investigation grant and Major research grant, available to appropriately qualified professionals such as scientists, clinicians, and allied health professionals (nurses, psychologists or physiotherapists).

Submission deadlines; 31st January and 1st August.

British Society for Research on Ageing

The BSRA offers a range of small sums of funding for equipment, workshops, publication costs and patient public involvement here

Epilepsy Research UK

ERUK has a Doctoral Training Centre Grant available and welcomes applications from research institutes to apply for multiple linked PhD studentships to commence 2021-2023 here.

INSPIRE Foundation

Each year the INSPIRE Foundation awards a PhD scholarship worth £22,500. Applicants who consider that their ideas conform to the INSPIRE criteria, are advised to call INSPIRE Foundation here. The research committee meet in March and October to discuss applications.

MND Association

MND currently offers 

  1. Biomedical Research Projects, submission deadline; 30th October 2020
  2. MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship (in partnership), submission deadline; 02nd September 2020
  3. MRC Clinical Scientist Fellowship (in partnership), submission deadline; 02nd September 2020

Parkinson’s UK have launched their research funding schemes, further details can be found here.

Reverse Rett

Applications by invitation only. If Reverse Rett become aware of groundbreaking clinical development work and if the proposed research is within our charitable remit, they might invite the clinicians to submit a research grant application for funding support from us. Royal College of Surgeons of England

We offer a wide range of research fellowships, awards, grants and lectureships to support all career stages, from medical students through to consultants working in university departments and hospitals throughout the UK and abroad. For more information about schemes, please see here.

Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research

Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research's PhD studentship programme has now launched.

Our new PhD studentships will enable high quality graduates to develop the skills to build an independent career in academic research related to one of our priority areas:

  • Urinary Tract Infection
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Neuropathic Pain
  • Assistive Technology for Upper Limb function

We will provide grants of up to £100,000 normally for up to 3 years, to support course fees, living costs, and research costs.

The Cure Parkinson's Trust

The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) funds laboratory or clinical research projects with the potential to advance knowledge that might lead to a cure for Parkinson’s disease. For details of scope see here.
