Our patients are invited to take part in a number of national and international diabetes research studies. These studies include…
We have several current and upcoming studies involving Closed Loop systems, also known as the Artificial Pancreas, which involve an insulin pump, sensor and an app on a smart phone which communicates between the two.
To learn more about the Artificial Pancreas, please see DigiBete’s interview with creator Roman Hovorka.
Leeds is one of the UK sites for TrialNet: Pathway to Prevention. This study involves screening and monitoring relatives of people with Type 1 Diabetes.
For more information or to self-refer onto the study, please see the TrialNet website.
We also have a study trialling a medication called Dulaglutide for children and young people with Type 2 Diabetes. Dulaglutide is currently used in adults to help manage Type 2 diabetes.
More studies are set to open in the next 12 months. Please see our Research Board in our clinic waiting room for further information. Most of our studies take place in the Children and Young People’s Diabetes Team department in the MultiSpeciality Outpatients building at St James’, however some visits may be in the new Children’s Clinical Research Facility, C Floor of Clarendon Wing at Leeds General Infirmary.
If you would like more information about any of our studies or are interested in taking part, please contact Emily Metcalfe or Saima Waheed during office hours on 0113 206 4996 or email [email protected].
