Around 1 in 125 babies are born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). As early as 50 years ago, most children born with CHD sadly died before their first birthday. Thanks to advances in treatment, both locally and globally, there are now more adults than children living with CHD, and 90-95% of infants will survive to adulthood.
The specialist centre in the region is the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit (LCHU) which is supported by 19 local hospitals – collectively known as the Yorkshire & Humber Congenital Heart Disease Network.
Thanks to your donations, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) are able to provide life-saving medical equipment and staffing for this care network, and Leeds-based services including a holistic family support service, parent accommodation at the hospital and essential ward resources.
CHSF is driven and inspired by patients in our region: past, present and future.
Empowered lives, because of you.
