| Additional Information | Present in up to 10% of patients with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism. Many of these patients have autoimmune polyendocrinopathies with antibodies to adrenal cortex and ovary. The test should be regarded as an aid to diagnosis and not as diagnostic in itself. Given that the incidence of parathyroid autoantibodies is relatively low in hypoparathyroidism, other factors must be taken into consideration such as clinical details, patient's symptoms and tests of glandular function |
