Leeds Teaching Hospitals Highly Commended at the Health Tech News Awards 2020
23 October 2020
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been highly commended in the ‘Excellence in engagement and communications’ category at this year’s Health Tech News Awards 2020.
The commendation recognises the work of the Trust’s Critical Care and Digital IT teams in converting paper to digital e-forms, supporting a safe and effective delivery of the service during Covid-19. The team worked collaboratively to develop a suite of critical care documents that could be used within the Trust’s own electronic health record, PPM+, focusing on patient safety, assurance and supporting remote working.
Georgie Duncan, Deputy CCIO, said “We’re working hard to develop digital solutions designed to improve the day-to-day experience of our patients and staff. This piece of work delivered many benefits, saving time, improving efficiency and supporting national reporting. Most notably, it allowed our teams to work closely together, wherever they were based, to support communications with our patients’ relatives and loved ones. Family support teams were able to read medical and nursing summaries in PPM+, providing immediate updates and enabling clear, supportive communications with families.”
Leeds Teaching Hospitals was also shortlisted for its Paper Lite approach, which delivered significant efficiencies, also playing an important role in supporting the Trust’s Covid-19 Infection Prevention regime by significantly reducing the volumes of documents and people moving around the Trust.
The Health Tech News awards, held annually, are designed to celebrate great technology and innovation making a difference across health and care.
