Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest providers of specialist hospital services in the country and we need a new modern hospital, fit for the future, to serve patients, locally, regionally, nationally and beyond.
To support the delivery of our specialist services we need new healthcare facilities, which are designed to deliver treatment and care efficiently, meet the latest sustainability standards and are fully equipped with the most advancements, treatments, technologies, innovation and research.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust also has one of the oldest estates in the NHS. Some of our buildings date back more than 150 years and while we continue to repair and maintain our facilities, we are faced with ageing services infrastructure, leaking roofs, damp, and crumbling walls and ceilings in some parts of our hospital.
Some parts of our hospital are not reflective of the world-class healthcare our colleagues provide and we have even had to close some of our clinical areas altogether, relocating services to other parts of our hospital. This is costly and we need a new hospital for patients and staff.
The story doesn’t stop there. We have an ambition to create a lasting legacy and play a major role in the regeneration of Leeds city centre, by repurposing vacant hospital estate and turning it into an Innovation Village. This will create a hub for science, research and health tech, introducing jobs, boosting the local economy and bringing medical advancements to our patients’ bedside. Find out more here
