In August 2018, CQC inspectors recognised that:
- Overwhelmingly staff are positive about and proud to work at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. In the last three years, LTHT has moved from the bottom 20% of trusts to the top 20% in the NHS staff survey
- The leadership, governance, and culture at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is used to drive improvements and deliver high-quality person-centred care
- The Leeds Way – our vision, values and behaviours – creates a sense of community and pride and is linked to delivering positive patient outcomes
- Staff are empowered to lead and deliver change
LTHT received three ‘Outstanding’ ratings. One of our core services, Critical Care, was given the highest possible rating at both LGI and St James’s. The Leeds Dental Institute was also rated outstanding.
For the first time, our hospitals received ratings for the Use of Resources which was carried out by NHS Improvement and we received an ‘Outstanding’ rating – the highest possible score – for this. The Use of Resources rating shows that we are using our resources effectively to provide high quality, efficient and sustainable care for our patients.
There are always improvements to be made and the report does highlight some areas where further work is needed. These are all areas the Trust is aware of and they are a high priority for us.
